halo was created on canvas paper which was new for me at the time and allowed for experiments with an underpainting full of addition and subtraction, adding and scraping away to reveal the pattern in the paper surface below. This gave a depth and texture to balance the contrast of the finishing layers in candy pinks and soft greens.
