set sail
set sail was created in over a year’s time and in several layers with months between layers. At the time I was exploring abstraction in earnest and took each layer as far as I felt I could go until eventually I arrived at this painting. I love the creaminess of the top layer, the expressive marks in black pencil over the field of gray and black. It evokes for me a strange vessel setting off across an atmospheric plane
